Total Neglect…

Life has a way of just… happening. While I feel like I have neglected my blog, I have not been neglecting the more important things in life.   I’m not sure how or where to start again, but I know I NEED to.   It’s been too long.  This is not about trying to make an impact on the world, after all–it’s just my way of processing my thoughts. So, where have my thoughts BEEN lately?!

If you look at my photostream, you’d think that all I have thought about lately is my grandchildren. :0)

They definitely fill that “empty-nest” void, and I’m thankful that we started having kids at a young age. I’m no spring chicken, so I am glad I can still get down on their level and play.

The fall has been and always will be one of my favorite times of the year. I love having all four seasons, and each of them brings a sense of newness that gets me excited about change.

I have always struggled with the need for change–whether it’s my hair or my decor, I get typically get bored with how things are and want something to be different… WHY IS THAT? Did God make me that way–a person that enjoys variety and change, or am I being discontent? I struggle with the thought.

(That’s why I LOVE chalkboard paint…makes it easy for me to change those verses I’m trying to memorize!)

I do know that In this time of THANKSGIVING, I am grateful for the many blessings I enjoy as an American. I tear up when I hear the National Anthem, knowing that even though I didn’t choose to be born here, I am given the privilege to call this country my home. It really bothers me when I hear those who choose to live here, wanting to enjoy all the freedom that we’re granted (thanks to our founding fathers!), yet they complain and criticize the very things that made this country great.

There a lot of things I could choose to neglect, but VOTING is not one of them. It’s too important. Too much is at stake. My conscience demands it. My faith requires it. I am THANKFUL to be a part of a democracy that allows us to choose who we want to lead our nation:

Psalm 33:1-22 HCSB

“Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous ones; praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the Lord with the lyre; make music to Him with a ten-stringed harp. Sing a new song to Him; play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout. For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is trustworthy. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the Lord’s unfailing love. The heavens were made by the word of the Lord, and all the stars, by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap; He puts the depths into storehouses. Let the whole earth tremble before the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it came into being; He commanded, and it came into existence. The Lord frustrates the counsel of the nations; He thwarts the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation. Happy is the nation whose God is Yahweh- the people He has chosen to be His own possession! The Lord looks down from heaven; He observes everyone. He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth from His dwelling place. He alone shapes their hearts; He considers all their works. A king is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be delivered by great strength. The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power. Now the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him- those who depend on His faithful love to deliver them from death and to keep them alive in famine. We wait for Yahweh; He is our help and shield. For our hearts rejoice in Him because we trust in His holy name. May Your faithful love rest on us, Yahweh, for we put our hope in You.”

  1. Thanks, Lisa, for your “VOTE” of confidence..:0) I’ve been in many countries myself and every time I am reminded of God’s hand in the founding of our country. I’m sad that even though we have come far– we have gone farther away from the foundation that made our country great…
    2 Chronicles 7:14
…if My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.

  2. I LOVE that you tear up during the National Anthem and that you would never neglect voting. I love this country like you do. Traveling to other countries has given me a greater appreciation of what we have here. I have often wondered at the privilege God gave me to be born here. Thanks for the inspiration.
