Words.
The ones we wanted to speak, but couldn’t.
Or shouldn’t speak.
Voices in our head telling us what we want to say,
what we wish we could say–
but knowing that if we do,
we will be filled with regret, know that, once spoken,
our words will sow seeds.
Seeds of hurt and sorrow and pain that once planted,
will start to grow roots and eventually, bear fruit.
Some of the are even based on truth,
but not valuable.
Some of those words are not so true.
Half-truths. Or not quite the truth…
The enemy whispers lies that are mixed with truth:
“Did God really say?” (Genesis 3:1)
Yes, God does speak, but Satan will twist His words,
telling us we find freedom in speaking our mind.
But I want the mind of Christ.
I want the wisdom to know what He says about
how to live,
how to speak…
and when not to.
If we could just control our tongue and use our words instead
for healing.
Life giving, freeing,
forgiving,
encouraging words that produce a harvest–
of hope, of freedom, of kindness
instead of a harvest of harsh or biting or hurtful words.

What if I follow Jesus’ example?
Jesus always spoke truth, so I know that the answer is found only as I seek Him.
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6
Maybe the hardest statement for many to accept, but true, nonetheless:
HE IS THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD
For those who accept His words, a harvest–
an abundant harvest of God’s love and forgiveness and a life that is beautiful in every season.
