Sometimes I Forget That I’m Strange

I am a Nana, yet I still talk baby-talk to my grandbabies.  I like dill pickles with my chili.  I can use a sewing machine and power tools.  I love to read–and sometimes take a book with me in the tree while I sit in a deer stand.

Seriously, though!

I don’t think I even know what “normal” is anymore…

Is it weird to LOVE being married to my high school sweetheart?  To still pine away for him when he’s out-of-town?  So many couples spend their life trying to “fix” their mate and often the things they are trying to change are the very things that attracted them in the first place.

Better to live on the corner of a roof than to share a house with a nagging wife.

Get your focus back on the things that you love about your husband and quit nit-picking him about those little things that really don’t matter–and might even miss after he’s gone.

(It IS Pastor Appreciation Month!😊)

How bizarre is it that I HATE money.  I hate what it does to people.  I hate that it is necessary for survival and loathe that we allow it to define us. I’m a woman, so of course I like to shop–but for me it is more of a competition to see how little I can pay. 😎

God has blessed our family many times by providing just what we needed, right when we needed it.  Now that we are more comfortable, I don’t want to miss that HE IS STILL THE ONE providing and meeting our needs.

Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with all things to enjoy.

Maybe I’m unusual, but I find it extremely strange that people are judged by the color of their skin–seriously?!!  How in the world do we think that it’s okay to pass judgement on anyone just because their skin is lighter or darker–any more than if their eyes are blue or brown?  Let’s take this to another level–judging someone for how much or how little they have. What ever happened to us that the only thing we’re compassionate about is saving the earth and protecting animals? Tommyrot!  I can’t help but think that God is appalled that anyone with a brain (or a heart!) could treat those created in His image anything less than valuable.

And they sang a new song: You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slaughtered, and You redeemed people for God by Your blood from every tribe and language and people and nation.

And you don’t even want to get me started on FAITH.

Oddity of oddities, I still believe in The Old Rugged Cross, and I’m  Standing on the Promises of His Word.  I believe the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation is absolutely TRUE, and still penetrates the soul and changes lives today.

I want to know it, live it, and share it–because it really is GOOD NEWS!

Good News for Gentiles

Acts 10:

34 Then Peter began to speak: “Now I really understand that God doesn’t show favoritism, 35 but in every nation the person who fears Him and does righteousness is acceptable to Him. 36 He sent the message to the Israelites, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all.37 You know the events[g] that took place throughout Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were under the tyranny of the Devil, because God was with Him. 39 We ourselves are witnesses of everything He did in both the Judean country and in Jerusalem, yet they killed Him by hanging Him on a tree.40 God raised up this man on the third day and permitted Him to be seen, 41 not by all the people, but by us, witnesses appointed beforehand by God, who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead. 42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to solemnly testify that He is the One appointed by God to be the Judge of the living and the dead. 43 All the prophets testify about Him that through His name everyone who believes in Him will receive forgiveness of sins.”

Being STRANGE is highly underrated… being different or unique is just what God has intended.  He gave each of us this one life, one chance to be all that He created us to be.  Not clones or robots or stereotypes.  I’ll just be myself, thank you.

Even if society says I’m WEIRD.

  1. I haven’t been on the computer much since being forced to take a job and go back to work so when I read this post, it brought encouragement to me in ways only God Himself and I can understand. Thank you for the inspiration that you allow us to see in your blog!
