I’ve posted some pictures of my fireplace mantels in the past, and since it has been a favorite I decided to start new board on my Pinterest just for mantel ideas!
It’s always fun to find new ideas from Pinterest, and this one came from a Pinterest-inspired wedding reception that I did for my nephew in December:
It was a small church wedding, and the young college couple didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I swooped in with all the white I could find in my house (candles, tulle and lights) and added forest animals (some I owned, some borrowed and some on clearance at Pier One.). We added fresh greenery from my daughter’s pine tree, succulents, and baby’s breath in the vases–all sprayed with snow. A few bleached pine cones and nuts gathered from the woods helped fill in the gaps.
When it was over, I took some of the ideas and created my winter fireplace mantel!
I used the same snow sprayed greenery. The wreath was an old one that I had spray painted with a matte nickel to tone it down a bit for the wedding backdrop. I added wired ribbon to the wreath and a candle to pull it all together.
Because it felt a little too early to go right from Christmas to decorating for Valentines, I love that I already had the things I needed to make a winter mantel. But now, after weeks of cold and snow, I am ready to brighten it up with a little RED!
This was last year’s mantel:
And this year…
Jute wrapped mason jars with dried flowers (maybe eventually real ones?! :0), wired ribbon, and a banner made from red/white baker’s twine, cardboard and cut-out hearts–AND here’s the simple FREE PRINTABLE I created just in time for Valentine’s Day:
I LOVE rearranging, so the mantel in my home is the perfect empty canvas for all kinds of ideas! If you’d like to share your ideas, just click on my Pinterest page to follow, and I’ll be sure to check yours out as well!
