A submission for the Obsessive Writing Challenge — SIN:
The weight of it all.
The heaviness.
The guilt.
The consequences.
Unavoidable and yet–undeniable.
Sin.
We step into the shallow water
only to drown in its depths.
And yet.
There is always,
always
the offer of forgiveness.
Washing the slate clean.
In heaven it must sound like
nails
on
a
chalkboard.
His nails.
First pounding, then scraping.
Scraping away the filth
until
not
even
the
chalky residue
remains.
A clean slate.
A fresh beginning.
A new day.
A new life.
