About Me

Doug and Vickie

I am a stay-at-home pastor’s wife whose children are grown:  Three of them married.  I am Nana to ELEVEN beautiful grandchildren–two of them born while their parents were missionaries in Madagascar and three that are adopted!  I am passionate about my faith and my family and am praying for direction as my life goes through a season of change.  God has blessed me with an incredible husband (37 years!) who has been my best friend since high school.

I want to be a Barnabas to my readers and hope to inspire them by sharing the lessons I’ve learned about life as a mom, Nana, friend, and child of God.  We have lived in 9 homes in our 37 years of ministry: from a run-down trailer to the home we enjoy now, my greatest joy was–and still is, providing my family with a loving, happy place to come home to at the end of the day.

You will see pieces of my heart–from scripture to do-it-yourself ideas.  I love being with family, seeing new places, reading, DIY and warm weather!  In everything I do and wherever I go, I long for others to see Jesus in me.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful posts. My mother recently passed and our family was looking at ideas to put on our mothers grave. I used one of your quotes as a start and made it work for our dear mother. Unselfishly devoted to Serving others.

Oh Kendra, I am so sorry. What a beautiful way to honor her memory–it sounds like you were blessed with a wonderful mother who left you with a great heritage of love!

My niece & family live in O’Fallon- brought up in a southern baptist church but have deviated from her roots-her daughter is in the 8th grade & is eager for the Gospel- from others besides me! I have encouraged attendance & even “googled” programs at 1st Baptist O’Fallon- as I was reading your article in “The Baptist Record” it seems like we made a connection- please pray for my family- I will send info if you have a visitation program.

Hello there, Vlad! I DID stop by your blog and am happy to make your acquaintance. I haven’t been to Siberia YET, but many in my church congregation have! We bring groups there almost annually to teach conversational English!

    Hey there Newbie Spikey!
(for your info, a Spikey is the term for folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

Blogging since June 2013, my aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations, opinions and lighter-hearted stuff thrown in for good measure.

I normally keep to a couple of posts a day, maybe 3-4 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…

You mean you don’t like snow? 😉

    • July 23, 2013 at 8:36 am

Oh, I love having four seasons– as long as the snow comes Christmas Eve and is done by January 31st! :0)

      • July 23, 2013 at 8:38 am

I couldn’t agree more! Snow in March is just dastardly. And it must be hot in the summer!

Ms. Vickie thank you for the insight into your heart and life. So often we see our pastor’s wife in passing and rarely get to know her and in reading and following your blog I am hoping that I will be inspired to be all I can be to my family and our not born grandson. I am looking forward to being the first one to tell him that Jesus loves him.

    • July 1, 2013 at 3:22 pm

Thanks, Peggy. I’m loving the new opportunities that blogging brings! I’m thrilled to know when a particular blog is an encouragement to someone!
