Let’s be honest.  The phrase “sleeping like a baby” implies that you slept well, while it should mean that you were up in the night crying, wanted to be held, or in need a diaper change!  I can actually remember the euphoria mixed with fear when my babies slept through the night for the first time.  My mothering ears heard every sound, every whimper, every stirring.

And it very rarely was what I would call a “Silent Night”.

The Silent  Noisy Night by Jill Roman Lord is a delightful book with a realistic twist of perspective.  Was it really a silent night with all of the excitement of delivering a baby, hearing his first cries among the animals of the stable?  Those shepherds heard more than a gentle bleating from their sheep!

Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:

Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to people he favors!

Luke 2:13-14

I don’t think those angel voices were a gently lullaby, but a heavenly chorus that made your heart skip a beat!

This beautiful book is a fun, thought-provoking children’s book that this Nana will keep for generations to come.  I received it free from B & H in exchange for a review, and I am delighted to tell you that it is one that you will want to have for your littles.  From birth to young readers, it is a hard-bound book with sturdy pages that will stand up to sticky fingers.  I can’t wait until my grandchildren arrive for Christmas, and I can tell you that this is going to be one of my favorite books to will share with them this Christmas and every Christmas!
