Double Nickels

Yep.  55.

Life is a Trip

That’s a slow go if you’re on the highway, and even though I’m racking up the miles, I’m not planning to exit any time soon.

But only the Lord knows for sure.

Reading in Psalm 139 this morning, I was reminded of this gift we call,

LIFE.

Your eyes saw me when I was formless;
all my days were written in Your book and planned
before a single one of them began.  Psalm 139:16

The dash on a tombstone could never tell our story.  We are given a few short years on this earth, and though God created each of us with a life unique, we get to choose how we live it.

I, for one, decided many years ago that the God who created me must know what is best for me.

And He hasn’t failed me yet.

Yes, LIFE–and sometimes people in it, have let me down along the way, but even in my most difficult trials (they come to us all), HE has been faithful.

And I’m grateful.

Grateful for every day that I’ve been given, and every ounce of joy and hope and prosperity He has blessed me with.

And these double nickels have taught me that life can turn on a dime.

One accident.  One diagnosis.

Or one new grandbaby.  One new adventure.  One new possibility.

And life goes on.  We learn from our past, look forward to the future.  We dream and we plan and we hope–

But this day is the only one we really have.

This day, we can

laugh

and

love

and

treasure

the

moments.

And dream of more…

Happy Birthday to me!

  1. Happy birthday! And you are so right. We can dream, and plan, but God holds it all. He directs our steps brings us exactly where we need to be, whether it was how we planned it or not.
