Goody Two-Shoes

👠 It is high time to step out of those STILETTOS 👠

Let your hair down. Leave off the makeup and put on something comfortable, then carefully consider what I am about to say.

While dressing up is fun on occasion, spending way too much time trying to impress will

WEAR.YOU.OUT.

I know that sometimes you just wanna feel like a woman.  Go ahead–dress up, put on some make up, and have a night out.  Just don’t forget that life is not all about you, and

You are most beautiful when you are being the person God created you to be.

👟 Lace up your TENNIS SHOES  👟

Some of us need to get in shape.  Some of us just need to run as fast as we can away from those things that are absolutely not God’s best for us.  I’m not talking about bad things, necessarily, but things that are not God-honoring.  Things that steal away the time or that distract us from doing the things we know we should be doing.  Getting physically healthy is important, but too often I see that focus become so critical in a person’s life that they sacrifice things that have an eternal significance.

Honor God with your body–just don’t dishonor Him by neglecting your spiritual health.

👢 Buckle your BOOTS 👢

GET.TO.WORK.

Quit procrastinating and start making lists.  Set goals and timelines and stick to them.  How many things you have on your to-do list isn’t what matters–what really counts is, “Am I consistently organizing my priorities and focusing on what I can accomplish today.  Just because you can’t get it all done, doesn’t mean you can’t get something done.

When is the last time you checked something off your to-do list?

🕶 Slip on a SANDAL 🕶

Quite the opposite of a boot.  Some of you are workaholics and you know it.  You are sacrificing joy in your pursuit of “bigger and better”. [ouch]  Sorry to step on your toes, but you know it’s true.  You need to take off those work boots and put on a pair of flip-flops and take a walk on a beach.  Get sand between your toes and feel some sunshine on your face.  We all know that Vitamin D is one of the benefits to sun exposure, but did you know it also can lower your blood pressure, improve bone health, sleep quality and more? Take a step back from the mundane to get a clearer picture of where you are going.

👣 Get into your HOUSE SLIPPERS 👣

I’m no sleep expert, but I do know that I am just not able to function properly when I am sleep deprived.  We all have the same number of hours in a day, and trying to squeeze into shoes that just don’t fit can be very painful.  Why do we not see that God, in His wisdom, knew we needed rest and designed our world to fit our physical, emotional and spiritual needs.  The key is balance.

We are best able to function when we choose to correctly balance our physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

Now before you begin to think, “Who is this woman think she is, telling me what I should be doing?” Forgive me.  I am speaking to myself.  Yet I know that I am not alone in this struggle.  Women wear more shoes than men, and because we do, we have to work harder to make sure we are putting on the right pair.

Contrary to popular opinion, “Goody Two-Shoes” is not a negative phrase given to someone who thinks they are better than anyone else. Read the story, here.  It is a story about a poor orphan girl who chose to think of others rather than herself.  Her story is a great reminder to us that in the end,

It doesn’t really matter whether you are barefoot or wearing glass slippers.

What really matters in the end–is the path you take.

“She was also kind and good to the poor, and the sick, and a friend to all who were in distress. Her life was a great blessing, and her death the greatest calamity that ever took place in the neighborhood where she lived, and was known as

GOODY TWO SHOES.”

This sweet girl has on boots.  With her tutu.  And of course, a superman shirt.  Some would say she’s a bit confused.  That girls have to wear the right shoes with the right outfit.  I say she is perfect.

“For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him:bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God..”  Colossians 1:9-10
